First Impressions
Pristine white siding reflects the sunlight, and it's reminiscent of the beloved old whitewashed farmhouses dotting the countryside. Gray board and batten shutters pop with contrasting color, and the porch pillars are hefty and solid as if they were just cut from a giant tree on the farm.
Traditional + Contemporary Design
In traditional older homes, the rooms were closed off to keep them warmer. In contemporary design, most of our clients find it more desirable to have an open layout for the living space. This plan combines the best of both preferences.
Adjacent to the traditional foyer, the dining room is accessed through beautiful barn doors. Close the doors to create a formal, enclosed dining area, or roll them back if you prefer wide open spaces.
Wall sections between the dining room, family room and kitchen provide a "suggestion" of separation between the rooms, but those spatial divisions are unobtrusive and leave the area so open that you could throw a ball and dance without bumping into anther guest.
Did I mention the floor? Pictured is a custom polished concrete floor which is contemporary and durable.
The family room boasts a soaring ceiling with rugged exposed rafters, a wall of windows, a brick fireplace and built-ins to show off your heirlooms and family photos. All you need to add is an over-stuffed leather couch.
Floor-to-ceiling cabinets, stainless steel appliances, stone counter tops, tile backsplash and a large island with seating is everything you could want in a new kitchen.
Around the corner is a walk-in-pantry, large laundry room and the exit to the 2 car garage. Put up shelving in the storage room to contain small items that you don't want cluttering up the garage.
Flexible Bedrooms
The master suite has everything on your wish list plus luxurious finishes. A long stretch of counter space in the bathroom supports cabinets with doors of frosted glass and two sinks. There is more than enough elbow room when you and your spouse are getting ready in the morning. Elaborate tile adorns the walls, and a frame-free glass shower stands beside a whirlpool tub.
Bedroom 4 is across from the master bedroom, so it would make a great nursery. Or use it for an office or guest room.
Two more bedrooms on the opposite side of the house share a bathroom. The toilet and shower can be closed off privately for one child, while the sink is left available for another child to brush their teeth. All parents know that small details like this will make a big difference in how fast you can get out the door in the morning!
